Hunting season preparations, what did you do today?

Yesterday: Up at 4ish, do my back exercises - Always in the office 5:30ish, check e-mails, look over HT. Move some equipment.
10:ish Picked up wife, finally made the decision to upgrade from my ATV to a SS. Tough to find a used one that wasn't plowed with. Wife actually steered me to a new one. Ordered. Long wait but enough time to set up. Usually do some hiking but rained out
 
Set up my new SO Lil bug out with nest and seam sealed it.

Have a turkey lottery hunt in Arkansas the 19th thru the 21st. 18000 acres with 25 permits drawn, should be a good time. Can’t wait to break in the new tent.

About to walk out the door for the 3 hour drive to Lake Charles. I have to start training a new Sup down there this week. If I can get home on Thursday night that will be the only night I get to spend in my bed until the night of the 21st.

Want to spend Saturday and Sunday familiarizing myself with and scouting the WMA I got drawn for. Have never set foot on it in my life.
 
I got in a 10 mile run this morning with a training group I run with. Thinking about possibly doing a half marathon in May and then start training for the Chicago marathon in October. I’m not a huge runner but I definitely think this has paid off big time when hiking the mountains and chasing elk in the fall.
 
I don’t run far , but I run/walk every day for atleast 25-30 minutes and I’ve cut way back on meal portions and snacking and no pop , no sugary drinks and cut back on the beer . Since feb 1 I’m down about 30 . Got my BMI number down to about 26.5 . Was 34 when I started . So I feeling pretty good . Way way more comfortable and just overall feel better . Probably won’t draw any western big game tags , but atleast I feel better
 
I started setting up my Sitka Mountain Hauler 4000 (Christmas gift from my wife). I filled up some of the space inside with towels and put a 20 pound bag of sand in it as well. I am almost done with PT from a hip surgery last year, so I can't wait to start putting some miles on the hiking trails. This year will be my first elk hunt, and I want to be ready.
 
8 mile trail hike. First of the season. Saw a coyote, but not much else exciting. Ran into a father and son out shed hunting. They had two nice 6 pt sheds and one raghorn, and dad was bitching about how bad shed hunting had become with people getting out too early and pushing everything to private. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
 
1100 vertical in 2.5 miles under pack. I went straight up through the brush off trail. I'm looking for any crap that will simulate SE Alaska training wise. I didn't plan on the snow in under the cedars in the bottom on the way out. I ended up postholing over a mile. Shedding layers on the way up and putting them back on coming down.

Spent several house yesterday in google earth, onx and GoHunt escorting for CO OTC elk.
 
Since getting the pup last September, I've managed 3-5km daily with him. The last 4 months have added elevation in the coulees as well. Its not much for distance, but I've already noticed a difference. Weekends we head out to different chunks of private in the search for sheds and will usually do 10-20km. This is his biggest shed to date. Nice finding decent mule deer sheds, as I've got enough priority for any zone this year. So count that as scouting?

Made a 14 mile ATV ride to check bear bait access. Still not road passable for a couple more weeks due to snow drifts. Started popping popcorn and mixing my topper recipe up. Did some TLC work to the mountain bikes as well. It’s been a busy 4 days off for me.
