Just ran my last race today before hunting season. Half marathon time was 1:51 which I am satisfied with. I will keep running until season just will cut back mileage to save on knees. Can't wait to start climbing the mountains.

Just had a protein and amino shake...now headed to wash wife's car..saving the knees watching some football later.

J/K...stationary bike and crossfit elliptical 45 (combined total) mins per 6 days/wk...one hour resistance 5 days following cardio. Cardio only today.

The one thing I miss every time I have to leave Bozeman is the local "M" hill where you can do 1 mile hike with 1700' elevation change on your lunch break. Beats the stairmaster by a large margin.

Ran an easy 8 miles this morning. That got me to 1,590 miles for the year for an average of 6.4 miles a day so far in 2013. I'm running a 10k next Saturday and my goal is to run it faster than my age which is 45. That is right at a 7:15 pace which is pretty quick for me.

My current best 10k is a 46:59 back in June which is a 7:34 pace. Shaving 20 seconds per mile off doesn't sound like much, but it has been a challenge for me. Still not sure if I'm going to be able to pull it off.

Congrats to all of you. I enjoyed running when I could still do it but unfortunately my knees decided that I would not be doing this anymore. Have had to keep it to long walks now. Keep aware of your knee condition or you WILL eventually pay a price. Seems like you are doing that already tho. Npadan:best of luck with your time goal.

I ordered Miller Lite with my pizza at lunch.

This sounds more like me. I just ate 2 T-bone steaks, and a couple ears of corn with some toast and bacon wrapped cream cheese jalapeño poppers while watching my OSU Cowboys. I am drinking Splenda sweetened tea though.

Need to get back on my bicycle.

I got up this morning and ran 3 miles then came back by the house and got my Wife and we walked 3 more. I sure was feeling good about myself.................until I read this thread.
Thanks alot guys!

Oh yeah, good job on the half marathon!

I like to give the animals some what of a chance... I don't want to be in too good of shape. :D ;)

I usually do a hike or two every week for a couple months leading up to hunting season. Usually pack 60-70lb around the neighborhood when taking the dogs on their daily walk.

Probably could do more, but this works for me.

Stairs work for me only because of gimpy knees on downhills. Has seemed to help over the last five years.
Cardio up knees down. You get old so do what you can do. And what my doc says, "If it tastes good, spit it out."

Headed out at 5:30 am, dropped the wife off at her deer blind for the second day of archery season, and hiked about 5 miles round trip to my area to place trail camera. I use to run 5 miles 3-4 days per week but my feet have let me down. Try to get out and hike as much as possible.

I load my daughter up into her stroller strap 50 pounds in a pack on my back and do at least a 2 mile loop every night, i hike at least twice a week, and try to ride my bike to work 4 days out of 5.

my biggest struggle however is the kitchen scale on the counter this season i've been really good weighing all my food eating to a slight deficit level and eating a 40/40/20 split on the macro nutrients. I can't wait for elk season middle of November can't get here soon enough.

That is some pretty impressive mileage and time. I know shaving any time off is a feat for me at least. I tend to get stuck in rhythms with my pace.

Thanks for the support from everyone and good luck to all this year.

Met my goal of running my age in a 10K this morning!

I'm 45 and my official time was a 44:51 for an average pace of 7:14 per mile for 6.2 miles!

Pretty pumped, at one point I was beginning to think that was an unattainable goal for me being a bigger guy and older and to be honest, not very athletic. Put in the miles and followed a training plan and was able to pull it off this morning though!

Here's my race report on my blog if anyone wants to read the details.
