Hump Day 70's Tunes

September 1976, as a 17 year old freshman @ Western State College, I began hearing music I'd never been exposed to on Denver AM radio. The college FM station was and is KWSB, where I had the privilege of spinning discs for many years. This cut, aired frequently by Fred "the Voice" Joyce, proved there was a whole lot more to country music than what was on Dad's car radio.

Do yourself a favor and listen all 19:21 of this someday...tight is a understatement

Greatest live rock song ever recorded IMO, but it’s one of those jams that completely ruins the studio version.

Duane, Dickey and Gregg get all the love, but Barry Oakley was a monster. The whole band was on fire for that concert, thank God it was recorded well and put to album.

Edit, my mistake: I thought that was Whipping Post by the song length. Love the one you posted too. That entire album kicks ass.

Duane and Dickey w/ 2 drummers, Greg's voice & keyboard, & Oakley's bass...passed on a few opportunities to see them & truly regret

I wonder sometimes what they would have done next after Fillmore and Eat a Peach if Barry and Duane didn’t die.

That was probably their high water mark, but what if they still had another gear…?

It ain't the 70's without Brother Bob
