What are your thoughts? What rifle would you go with? The Tikka is lite weight as well as the Howa. Looking for reason on both of these need and want a new mountain rifle. Thanks

Find the one that fits you best and you will have a sub MOA rifle that will do what you want it to do. I have one of each and they are both great firearms. Like the stock on the Howa a bit better, but both shoot lights out. I may get a Bell and Carlson stock for the tikka in the future.

I find the tikka action to be smoother out of the box than the Howas... however I like the trigger on the howas better. Well, mine are Weatherby Vanguards but same action. Like others have said, as far as accuracy goes they're both awesome.

either will serve you just fine. You're down to feel and looks at this point

I have two Tikka's and one Vangaurd. The Tikka's are both lighter and both are tack drivers. The Vangaurd is bulkier. Tikka has magazines, where as I don't believe the Howa does, my Vanguard has a floor plate. They both shoot 1/2 moa with the handloads I have put together. Both the triggers are pretty decent for being factory triggers. As you stated you wanted a mountain rifle I'd throw you the Tikka route cause your looking to cut weight.

If you are lefthanded the choice is simple...

PS- I'd love to some some LH HOWA 243s made available!
