How do you dispatch wounded birds?

What is your go-to method to quickly and reliably dispatch wounded/crippled birds?

  • Ring their neck

Not sure I would want to be chewing on the heads of birds. Especially now Bird flu is so prevelent in water fowl populations.
Best method I have found for dealing with everything from doves to geese is to use what the scottish salmon fishermen call a "priest". To give the bird a coupe de grace on the back of the head. Its call a priest as it delivers the last rites.
 
WRING their necks whether collared dove or RING-neck pheasant! I would love to WRING a noisy parrot's neck any day!
