How close is close?

We're down in Costa Rica right now, and this afternoon's thunderstorm was absolutely blowing the roof off. So I decided to start filming from the doorway and got a good catch.

That is awesome footage. The way the tree branch moves just after the lightning strikes is cool. It was as if the lightning caused a wind gust as it struck the ground

That was cool,good timing!My Family(Brothers/Sister) just came home from there.
They had a great time and got a little wet also.

Amazing! I bet that shook the ground and was louder than it seemed on the video.

Looks like lightning struck that tree. Nice red afterglow.
I have tried to take pics of lightning and have only come close ,to getting hit...lol

I had lightning strike about 50 feet from me last year while bank fishing a lake after work last summer. BIL thought it looked like I was hit from a distance. All we'd had up to that point were far, distant rumblings of thunder, the sun was still shining even.

Nothing like a close call like that to give you a healthy dose of respect for mother nature..
