Has anyone tried the Hornady GMX lead free bullets yet? Seems like a more economical alternative to the Barnes offering.

I'm looking to try some, but wanted to see if other Hunt Talkers have used them on game, and what your thoughts were.

I've been very impressed by the Barnes copper bullets, but mainly in my muzzle loader. I have quite a few Barnes copper bullets, but have yet to load any. The best prices that I have gotten on Barnes bullets has been through the Barnes on line store. I shoot Hornady, but don't have any of the GMX bullets, yet.

Which hornady bullets have you had luck with? I tried the SST last season shot 3 animal with them and was not impressed in any cases.

The SST's are great for blowing up meat. Everything I shot with them hit the dirt right where they were shot, but the expansion was too much. I used them in 2009, and won't use them again. Went with the Interlocks (standard cup and core) and they performed great on whitetail, and they did well on the cow elk too (using a 225 grn .338). Didn't get a chance to shoot anything with their interbonds though.

I killed a whitetail buck this fall with them. I shot them in the Hornady factory-loaded Superformance load in my .308. 150 grainers, I think. Not really enough experience with them to make an "accurate" judgment though.
