Been a while since I've caught a grayling, but on our camping trip over the weekend I hiked up to a lake with the mrs and boys where we could catch some. Micro glass jig seemed to be what they were hungry for.

I must admit I’ve never fished for them in the lesser 48, love finding good Grayling water up here. Regardless, they are an important indicator species. Water that should but does not hold Grayling is in trouble. I’m glad you found them and I hope your kids can hike up there with your grandkids and find them in the future.

I remember trying and failing to catch grayling in Montana.
In Alaska, they typically go for any fly, sometimes even the most shredded fly

Right? At first I thought I had a rainbow, because of the pink stripe down the side of it. Obviously doesn't show up in my picture though.

Congrats! I tried in Idaho and was unsuccessful. Fortunately, my brother caught one on the same trip so I got to see one in person. They are beautiful fish.
