Hiking for Grayling

I must admit I’ve never fished for them in the lesser 48, love finding good Grayling water up here. Regardless, they are an important indicator species. Water that should but does not hold Grayling is in trouble. I’m glad you found them and I hope your kids can hike up there with your grandkids and find them in the future.

I’ll bet over the course of my guiding career I’ve photographed 1000s of Grayling and never capture the colors, fantastic photo.
Right? At first I thought I had a rainbow, because of the pink stripe down the side of it. Obviously doesn't show up in my picture though.
 
Congrats! I tried in Idaho and was unsuccessful. Fortunately, my brother caught one on the same trip so I got to see one in person. They are beautiful fish.
 
I miss fishing for grayling in Alaska. They taste great and fun to catch.
