High Country Stag

[Kiwi]

Recently hunted stags in the South Island of New Zealand. Not many deer seen but did see a couple of stags and shot the larger of the two. Buddy shot a chamois too. Here’s a iPhone pic of my stag. Public land available for all to hunt.

Beautiful country. From ocean floor to snow steep peaks. I hear its one heck of a hump to get around such elevations.

Shoulder, euro? Whats the plan? What's the common mount in Kiwiville?

Public land available, but not everyone capable of hunting there, looks tough like country!
Great photo, nice stag, I wonder how he damaged his brow tines?

@styles just a euro for this stag. Not much room for many more mounts. I have a mule deer shoulder mount on its way and that’s taking the last good spot.

@ Devondeer The tines would be broken from fighting I’d say. It wasnt far from the road, maybe 4 kms.

No it isn’t. We don’t have many regulations for public land hunting. No hunting at night and must use bigger than a .223 are probably the main ones.

It is excellent meat. Similar to elk.
