So I’m shooting my 6.5 prc and have found that without fail every time I take a cold bore shot it is 1” high. The following shots are all very tight and pattern well. Is there a way to get that cold bore shot in the same spot as the next 5-10?

I have a Marlin 1894 (? ) that will shoot 5" high without fail first shot cold fouled barrel.
There hand loads hot, 300 gr Hornady hp 2500 fps.
The rest shoot 5" lower and in an inch at 100 yards.
The problem is the first shot is the kill shot.
What I do is sight in with a cold barrel. Shoot one then set it aside till it is cold again then another shot.
Takes forever but I always have other guns that need test loads and such.
I shoot 5 shot groups and using this method I get an inch group at 100 with all first shots.
If it does not fall down with the first one I just shoot a little higher for the remaining.

I foul my barrel and keep shooting until accuracy falls off. This can be hundreds of rounds sometimes.
Way to many people do more damage by cleaning a barrel and usually way to often.
If hunting in bad weather run a few dry patches after the days over or hunt ends.

Since it's appearantly a hunting rifle, i might recommend what i do.
Take a target to the range and set up a target.
Shoot 1 round.
Remove target. Go home.
Repeat the next 2 days.
This will give you your cold bore grouping.
Adjust your scope for this.
