Need some advise. I am trying to install a rear iron sight on a old 22 WMR that I'm trying to sell. I got it about 1/3 in and it has stopped. I've tried pushing it back out the other way with no luck.

Once you get it out carefully file along one of the flat surfaces without changing the angle. Go a few swipes at a time until it will drop in about 1/3 of the way, then tap it in.

Played with this task on my BP kit.
I took a triangle file and smoothed one face. With the smooth face down, file the angled notch on the barrel. Couple passes then check it...repeat.
Disclaimer: be patient.

If you can get it out, stick it in the freezer for a bit, then I bet you could tap it right in.

Some sights are tapered, you can measure the difference with a micrometer. I would remove it by laying it on sand bags and driving it out. Then try from the other direction.

Oh sand bag may work to keep it from rolling.

I am going to give it an hour or two get some grub in me and revisit this. I think I'm being irrational right now and need a breather.
