You see them come up for sale once in a while. They are kind of pricey, but they are pretty nice rifles.I should not have looked up those GRRW 58s
I need one

How about this instead? Not a .58, but there is nothing like direct ignition.I should not have looked up those GRRW 58s

Thank you sirYes, it is a 1-48 twist. It will shoot both. The question is what do you want to shoot conical or PRB? If you decide to use the conical bullets, then buy a lead furnace and mold. It will pay for itself by the time you get the wind and trajectory figured out.
The problem is cost to shoot a muzzleloader if you just want to buy and go shoot one deer then put it in the closet and forget about it. then buying a 20 pack of slugs sounds good. But in reality you're not doing the gun, yourself or the deer justice.
Super interesting, but aesthetically not my thing. I do like the simplicity of it though. I watched a few videos on other underhammers and it seems like a cool way to do it. I'm also probably not going to buy anything right now for a variety of reasons, but I will be keeping an eye out for the GRRW guns just in case. How about this instead? It is probably the most American of all rifle actions. It has the simplest action (fewest parts) and the most direct and shortest path from primer to powder.Woah! I did not know that there was such a thing as an underhammer.
I grease mine up with Babybel cheese wax in the grooves. Warm it in my hands to pliable enough to press in there and it stays put. I use 2F cartridges I rolled in flash paper and accuracy is same with just those or patch/card under bullet.Just bought NIB off a forum dirt cheap!!!
I have it sighted in and feel pretty good with it out to 50 yards or so. I did not hunt with it during the general season. I thought about taking it on some tree stand sits for whitetails in November but it was raining so took my 30-06 instead. Our muzzleloader season isn't until late December and I have a couple doe tags remaining so...@Ben Long - Have you been out with your Hawken? I'm heading out to 8A this afternoon with mine .
Some mentions of Parker Production bullets in this thread. Bob lives on the Troy/Deary line. Prince of a guy!
Ben what load have you settled on? There is an active club in your area have shot with them yet?I have it sighted in and feel pretty good with it out to 50 yards or so.
