Not Virginia anymore!
It's not a hunting related bill, but further illustrates just how asinine some of our legislators are. I know I haven't been around Montana long, but I thought DUIs were ALWAYS a bad thing. This bill allows judges to use the 10 year driving record for people being sentenced for a DUI. Currently they can only go back 5 years. Alan Hale, the Basin representative, had the cojones to actually say, in a public setting no less, "These DUI bills are destroying small businesses". No big surprise that he's also a bar owner.

Exactly. While it shouldn't happen at all, I can understand how someone could screw up once. It still amazes me when I read of folks getting their 10th or 12th DUI.

You would not believe the email I received from Mr. Hale after I wrote to tell him that he had been misquoted in the paper as no person in their right mind would actually be opposed to this bill. His reply, "You are not looking at the books of small bars and taverns in communitys such as ours either are you. In a town of 200 people that is 10 miles from nowhere we have and continue to see our business being killed by these very laws. and we being our comunitys largest employer, see unemployment rising in the future."

About as ignorant as it gets.

Hale was on the local news tonite...I believe the clip is on you tube. He's "testifying" about DUI legislation...a must see. Not a hunting related bill?....but these nutcases are also voting on hunting related bills.....
