Hart Mountain Antelope Refuge Oregon

I think I'll use my points on Hart Mt rifle hunt in the next couple years. I don't care about BC but like the idea of seeing a lot of mature bucks, fewer hunters and a later opening.

The problem is that there are whole age classes of buck missing on Hart. When the rabbit population crashes again, the fawn crop will be near 0 and the quality will be gone.

The thing about the Oregon Antelope hunts is that the units are empty by sunday afternoon opening weekend.

Opening day is a shit show, but after that is calms down significantly.

I am applying for my hunts today and I have decided to put in for rifle pronghorn. I am feeling good about my 15 PP.

If you do this option, contact me. I have spent 60+ days on the ground in the unit in the last 7 years. (I spent 20+ there last year on my wifes sheep hunt) If you hunt hard, you'll kill a booner. My buddy killed an 83 1/2 last year and I know of another in that range as well as many others in the 80" range.

I drew the Warner #1 rifle pronghorn tag. Can't wait to chase antelope for the first time!
