Years back my dad and I partied together on Wyoming antelope, I don't remember the exact odds, but with the points we had we were north of 90%. My brother had burnt his points the year before, and decided to through in on the random to see if he would get lucky and could tag along. He ended up drawing with low single digit odds, and my dad and I struck out.

After 47 years of unsuccessfully applying for a Montana mountain goat tag, my 26 squared bonus points finally came through and I finally drew a goat tag in the unit just north of where I live.

A really cool short range weapons moose tag near where I used to live that would extend your season and be relatively easy to fill. I told my two buddies about it. Both of them drew and I didn’t. Lessons were learned.

Buddy and I drew a 13pt WY elk unit on our first try, zero pts. When we put in I knew we would draw it, the feeling was right.

This is all why I don't even bother applying "out west". It isn't worth it to me and I don't understand the process. I will stick with PA where I get a buck tag with my license and can buy all the doe tags I want OTC until they run out. I do apply for PA elk knowing it will probably never happen for me.

People play to the level they can afford. I'm pretty much stuck to my home state. Some of these folks are applying in a boatload of places. Make the most of what you have and enjoy the time.

I got beat out on my best bet for a tag again but got lucky and got an archery elk so I'm stoked. Sooner or later I'll get that other one. As you get older, time grows shorter. I'll give it a good shot this year.

Mine is dumber than it sounds — refreshed a state’s leftover list at 10:00:01 on release morning and watched the tag I wanted blink “available” then “gone” before the page reloaded. Friend across the room got it. Still don’t know if I was unlucky or just slow on the trackpad. Anyone else have a leftover/reissue heartbreak, or am I the only one who took that one personally?

Opposite. Grabbed so many hoghly sought after reissue tags off the liat they changed the system to slow me down.

I accidentally closed the window while I was in the queue for a leftover tag. My wife(sitting next to me) and my buddy got theirs, but I missed out.
