Handgun carry options with pack and bino harness

I plan to get a leg holster like Alien gear sells. This way when you lay your backpack or binoculars harness down, you are still strapped.

They snag on brush a lot. I tried it with the same mindset. I've gone to a chest holster the past couple of years

After a close encounter with a black bear that had claimed one of my Kids' deer, I will be sure to have something close and very handy. (BTW we were able to take back the deer.)

The last couple of years I have been using the Marsupial Gear holster that attaches to the molle webbing under the harness. I like it because it allows me to use different guns without changing holsters.

Another vote for gunfighters inc. I kicked all the ideas around mentioned in this thread before choosing one for my Wyoming hunt in griz country last fall. I quickly got very used to the pistol to the point I almost felt weird when I didn’t have it. My bino harness easily fit over the chest holster and it’s a piece of gear I can comfortably recommend.

After much deliberation and just plain sick of my janky hip belt holster, I ordered a Kenai Chest Holster.

Majority of my hunting is in thick griz country and I like the idea of always having it on me.

I have two Diamond D Guide's Choice rigs for my big wheelguns. Eberlestock Recon system for my autos. Since no one will put up with my BS I don't have to worry about flagging a buddy.

I have a cousin who makes custom leather holsters. I had him make me one with just enough drop so the grip clears the hip belt of my pack but still high enough it’s not flopping against my leg or snagging on anything. I really like it so far. This is for a 44mag.

Kydex holster of your choice with RTI hanger, RTI optimal drop attachment on belt. Drops holster below pack belt but not so low it’s flopping around or needs another strap. You can take it on and off in seconds, have a second adapter somewhere else and swap between the two. You can see how it rides in pictures. The best system I’ve found.

Just wanted to add a PSA here for Gunfighters, Inc - maker of the Kenai chest holster. My 3 yr old holster developed cracks in two of the harness clasps. Emailed their customer service who told me to just send it in. Did that and two weeks later got it back with what appears to be improved design clasps. No charge, no fuss. They stand behind their product. Veteran owned company. Two thumbs up.
