As to your 100-1 elk question, i've never elk hunted it, but I did Antelope hunt there a few years ago. All the elk we saw were north of Steamboat mnt. We didn't see much of anything for wildlife south of steamboat. Don't know if that helps any, but good luck! Shouldn't be too difficult to find elk as its all pretty open.
