Gutless method for birds

This is a pretty slick way to piece out a bird, getting all the usable meat without gutting. The pictures aren't the best but these are the cuts in sequence. I've only done this with chukar but it should work on any bird.

Looks like a slick way to process your birds. Even more impressive is how you were able to kill that bird without visible shot damage to the meat. Are you shooting them in the head with a .22? Annie Oakley has nothing on you.
 
Very nice! I'll have to try that next time I get some chukars. The last chukars we got while deer hunting I fried up like chicken using the spicy Uncle Buck's chicken fry from BassPro. It's quite spicy but those chukars were delicious.

I've tried them lots of different ways but my favorite is chicken fried then gravy from the drippings on mashed potatoes. I think I was weaned on rabbit and game birds cooked that way.

That's my preferred method of having small game/upland birds as well.

I hope to someday wear out a knife cutting up critters. The one thing I'd love to have of my grandfather's (he still alive and well) is a homemade kitchen knife of his that his grandfather made. The blade was made from a piece of a broken cross-cut saw that was used to clear the family farmstead.
