My Father in Law got me a gift certificate to Brownells, and so a big box full of stuff to work on stocks is on the way.
I have an old tang safety Ruger M77 that I want to pillar & glass bed. That seems easy enough. The stock is a plain Jane walnut with straight grain. A nice, serviceable piece of wood, but it's about useless due to it's mass. It's thick like Roseanne and I want it to be svelte like Kate Upton. I'm thinking of slimming it down, putting a Schnabel fore-end on it and creating some panels like the old Mauser Pleizer rifles had.
Anybody do any wood carving or stock work that can recommend some books or online resources?
