Pretty easy to be glib about death and suffering sitting behind a keyboard. I think all of us from Montana are disgusted with the whole Big Sky scene, but I'd not wish a grizzly mauling on anyone.

On that board with the closed sign is a document with the MCA (Montana Code Annotated) that explains the legality of the closure. So, it is not advisory or optional, rather mandatory until further notice.

I stopped to read that stuff on my way home this afternoon. Hope the hunter has a full recovery.

Then what’s keeping them from closing all the trails in the Madison range and locking up all the access to the Gravelly range?

I suspect the fact that MCA sections cite what is the allowed reasons/conditions for closure of places for public safety.

I haven’t heard anything about that, but the article says the bear may be injured, so I’d assume they got their licks in somehow before the bear left them be.
