Alright folks, straight to the pig pen here. What is the preferred oil/fat/pucky/whatever lather you desire for making a great grilled cheese sandwich?

Can never have enough butter. Can’t have enough cheese either. Sometimes a grilled cheese with a strong stank cheese is pretty good. Throw a slice of limberger on there.
Unfortunately my grilled cheese are being made with the shit that’s basically plastic now since that’s all the kids want.

Gotta use sourdough bread. Alternating slices of raw milk habanero/ green onion cheese.
After it's grilled you HAVE to slice it diagonally , there is no other way.

I'd expect @Sammich Freak be along shortly .

I brown all my roasts in bacon grease but never thought of using it on a grilled cheese. Genius!!!

I've been using margarine because it's easy to spread. Maybe if I think about it ahead of time I'll get the bacon grease out of the freezer.

Yes bacon grease, in a cast iron pan, Tillamook Pepper Jack, Dave’s Killer Bread.

That’s tops. Cannot be beat. Michelin Star worthy.

Just a couple slices of white American, lots of butter, Italian bread, in a skillet with a lid over it on top of the gas stove. My sister-in-law makes better ones than I ever had out.
