Interesting
Whats real laughable though - id bet that a majority of them get sold to residents.Interesting
If a person spends what they would have into the nonrefundable portion of an app/hunting license as a nonresident in another state, some of these odds are right in line
I heard that last year the sheep Super Tag went to an Alaska resident that spent several thousand on chances.Whats real laughable though - id bet that a majority of them get sold to residents.
Math seems odd on that one to me. But if theres no cap on it - more power to him.I heard that last year the sheep Super Tag went to an Alaska resident that spent several thousand on chances.
Trying to complete a Slam?Math seems odd on that one to me. But if theres no cap on it - more power to him.

An Alberta bighorn hunt is currently $60-$90k. Math is not my strong point, but it seems that a person could have spent $5,000 this year and had a 1/50 chance of winning.Math seems odd on that one to me. But if theres no cap on it - more power to him.
If it’s the same guy I was told about, the individuals number of sheep is in 30s. I’d guess slam was complete before he got the tag.Trying to complete a Slam?
Actually…just received an email offer…An Alberta bighorn hunt is currently $60-$90k. Math is not my strong point, but it seems that a person could have spent $5,000 this year and had a 1/50 chance of winning.
I know that in some states, people will spend $60k or more on chances to win the sheep raffle tags. I think that Colorado is the only state that limits the number of chances an individual can purchase, but I could be wrong.

Proof of that statement or just your opinion? Are you speaking for Wyo BHA or as an individual when you make that claim? Its laughable that the veto was about helping the resource. It's about making sure these types of tags stay with who the good Governor feels is the rightful owner of such opportunities, those types that contribute to his campaign and the sort. Secondly, if you really want to figure out another reason for the veto, just look into who makes a profit from the auction.
Not difficult to read sign...
Question:Proof of that statement or just your opinion? Are you speaking for Wyo BHA or as an individual when you make that claim?
Since WSF manages the sheep auction and they are a non-profit (501c), who is making the profit? Do they restrict auction participation to only GG donors such that GG can make sure "the rightful owner of such opportunities, those types that contribute to his campaign and the sort."?
Given your apparent loathing, I am guessing you have equal disdain for Ducks Unlimited (501c and moose auction), RMEF (501c and elk auction), Montana SCI (501c and goat auction), and the Montana Mule Deer Foundation (501c and deer auction)?
None. Strike 1.Question:
What position do you hold with WSF?
who's making the profit off of sheep auctions?Question:
What position do you hold with WSF?
I have no use for auction tags, raffle tags I can tolerate because most anyone with a few dollars can afford to buy a chance. I think that was the idea behind the bill that passed in Montana that GG just had to veto. Obviously he doesn't care about the will of the hunters and legislature that passed the bill, his conduct toward wildlife is equally in question. His wildlife convictions aside, he's doesn't have much of a track record in his concern for wildlife (appointments to the commission, selections for director, bills he should have veto'd that he didn't and so on). He also has a clear track record of favoring wealthy hunters and landowners, which he again has proven by the veto of this bill as well as handing out elk tags via helicopter delivery.None. Strike 1.
Depends on the state.who's making the profit off of sheep auctions?
We are talking about Montana and GG, so .......Depends on the state.
Great - don't play the auction game then.I have no use for auction tags, raffle tags I can tolerate because most anyone with a few dollars can afford to buy a chance.
Hmmmm.... Along with the last six other MT Governors if the 40-yr history of sheep tag auctions is correct. That would include three Democrat and three Republican governors, none of which bothered to change the system. Makes you think it's more about maintaining history and a known funding stream than kicking the average Joe hunter in the groin. All of which to say, comes as no surprise that he would once again kick the hunter of average means in the groin. Those pesky joe six pack hunters don't deserve another raffle tag.
The groups that get the auction tags, clearly profit from them. Why else would they want them, to lose money? Is that your position, that there is no financial gain from MWSF getting those auction tags? Or DU, or MDF, or RMEF?We are talking about Montana and GG, so .......
You stated that "Secondly, if you really want to figure out another reason for the veto, just look into who makes a profit from the auction." So who is making the profit? MWSF runs the auction and they are a non-profit. Please enlighten me.
And is this position one of Wyo BHA or just your opinion? That should be a simple question to answer.
Is that right?Great - don't play the auction game then.

I am perfectly fine with the auction route. Hell, make the minimum bid $250K so even more money can be raised to help put more sheep on the landscape. That helps everyone.
