Garmin inreach or Zoleo?

Which should I buy?

I like my inreach mini, new plan is $8 a month. Do pay a bit more on months I text. I like it as it links to my phone and I can text from phone, I also like I can get weather forecasts. Tried the new iPhone satellite text feature and it did not work as good as inreach. Probably will keep inreach even once phones get better with satellite texts, use it as a backup if phone dies.

I've had both and far prefer the zoleo, with inreach messages going both ways occasionally seem to just drop into the void, or they arrive 2 days laterplus the earthmate app is so bloated with things you don't need that it barely functions.
Zoleo is fast, simple, and reliable, really all you want out of a sat messanger.
I haven’t tried someone but I think the inreach messenger does what you describe.

Choosing between the Garmin inReach and ZOLEO really comes down to how you balance reliability with convenience. The inReach has rock-solid coverage and a built-in user interface that feels natural in the field. On the other hand, ZOLEO’s smartphone-based approach is slick, especially if you prefer typing messages on your phone—kind of like ordering from favor delivery: simple, intuitive, and you can manage it all from your pocket. A big plus for ZOLEO is that as long as your phone works and you have signal, sending texts or SOS is as easy as sending a meal request.

I have an InReach and am happy with that. As long as you have a relatively decent view of the sky I haven't had any issues with messages going out or coming in. The Garmin app is pretty user friendly as well.

I ended up getting thr inreach 2. Following set up it seems to fit my needs perfectly.
