Back in May I saw that Turnpike Troubadours were going to be playing in Fresno, 4 hours away from me This coming Friday (October 16th). I bought 4 tickets with the idea we would go to it with my girlfriend's family who live in town. Cool, we will visit her family and I'll take them to a show....

Well they all flaked on me, and when I went to list the tickets on Stub Hub, They were worth a Fraction of what I paid. I also realized I paid over $140 in fees to SH. The ticket price is about half of what I paid. This is the second destination concert her family has flaked on attending with us, and I'm just done.

They were talking about Stub Hub on the radio the other day. Can't recall if there is a lawsuit against them or not but the jist was StubHub is constantly running algorithms to test the max price for given tickets so you and I could both look at the same concert venue and be getting DRASTICALLY different pricing - like around $100 ticket price difference IIRC. The fees were also mentioned.

Ticket sales is a slimy business that could really use some sort of oversight. And how far you get bent over, when you can't attend, is dictated by whether or not the show sells out. Sorry you got burned.

On the flip side, if you can be flexible, you can often take advantage of the situation and get last-minute tickets for cheap..

Isnt this also the case with hotel rooms and flights?

We were going to be in Milwaukee this summer and I wanted to take in a brewers game with the family. I checked stubb hub first and then the stadium directly. Stubb hub was much more expensive with no benefit to buying through them over the stadium.

We saw Turnpike Troubadours a couple years ago, worth seeing.

As for the slimy b@!#tards who run stub hub, ticketmaster, etc. there's more than a few choice words I could use to describe them. Concerts and sporting event tickets are in a bad place currently, and the crooked SOB's keep dumping enough $$$ into Washington DC campaigns to keep from getting reigned in.

I’ve used vivid seats 3 times now for Montana State football games and a rodeo , ticket prices are jacked up , I don’t like using a resale site and do it as a emergency backup ,

one thing I’ve noticed the earlier you get a ticket from the resale site the lower the price , the longer you wait , the price goes up each week you get closer to the event , and seats are unaffordably stupid .
