Last weekend I got invited to sit in on a goose hunt with some friends. I used to love hunting waterfowl when I was younger but got out of it several years ago as life became busier. One flock of geese coming in wings set and feet down was all it took for me to become hooked again. After buying a call and some other gear Monday, I was able to borrow some decoys from friends and put together a hunt today with a buddy. It turned out well! Should have had two limits, but a couple whiffed shots and afternoon commitments left us a little short. Next weekend can't come soon enough!

Looks like a good hunt. Congrats.

If I was divying up the pile, I would quickly stuff those greenheads in my pack and try to convince my hunting buddy how happy he would be with a big pile of honkers. Maybe someone has a good goose recipe, but I've yet to find one. As such, I don't shoot them much these days. Now late season mallards .........

Maybe you are over cooking them. Sprinkled with Montreal steak seasoning and grilled lightly or rub with sage and pepper then coat with maple syrup then bake in bread pan. I take two breasts and bind with twine to make a roast. Or the old jerky standby. If i lived closer I'd take them off your hands any day.lol. When i hunt at my Moms house, we call it the flying monkeys when they return from the fields to roost on the lake. I've seen the sky black with them. Now you have ME missing duck hunting. I like the picture layout. A classic.

Randy, try this and I guarantee you won't be disappointed: Put goose breasts in crock pot. Cover with apple juice and cook on low for 4-6 hours. Take out meat, shred it and cover with your favorite barbecue sauce.

I'm telling you, it is absolutely delicious and tastes just like a barbecue beef sandwich.

I used to think I didn't like goose. Then I tried one my mother-in-law soaked overnight in TenderQuick and with some liquid smoke. She then roasted it just like the turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. The goose was completely consumed. There was lots of turkey left on the platter.

I will probably give this a shot and see how it turns out! Thanks for the idea
