I saw Steve in a small venue in Madison Wisconsin. He gave the band a break, grabbed a stool and sat down. Said here's a song I've been working on, then played Copperhead Road with a mandolin. One of the best shows I've ever seen!

Another from Steve Earle. Steve wrote this song and Waylon Jennings recorded it on his Will the Wolf Survive album that went #1 in 1986. Steve later recorded it on his Copperhead Road album.

Funny you mention that! I have said the exact same thing for years. I graduated in '86, listened to nothing but those bands and loved that year. I often say that music in general was great from '84-'86, and absolutely sucked by '88!!
There was alot of great music that year in different genres!
