Football General Talk

A few fun streaks and accomplishments of the Tomlin era:

-Currently have gone 70 straight games failing to score more than 7 points in the first quarter.

-7 straight playoff games trailing by at least 21 points at some point in the game.

-Their defense (which was his supposed specialty) has averaged to give up 37 points a game in the past 7 playoff games.

Great leader, great human being, players loved him, went to two super bowls, lots of great accomplishments first half of career, etc. Stayed 10 years too long.

I think the Steelers will be more than fine finding his replacement and get back to being competitive.

I love to hate these litanies of mostests, leastest, bestest, and worstest facts. Given the almost innumerable things that could assayed for such awards, who it to say that a very similar list can be made for any team in the league.

These things sound terrible, but how many GOOD things could you say about the team. Probably just as many.

Sure but how many active coaches have anything remotely close to those two stats on their resume? Being absolutely non competitive in 7 consecutive playoff games and completely blown out. Not a couple, seven.

Even the worst of the worst, (Raiders, Titans, Browns, etc.) haven't gone 4+ years without scoring 7+ points in the 1st quarter. It's almost impossible to do unless you and your coaching staff/schematics are that inept.

How many teams have lost 7 consecutive playoff games? And then how many have been losing by at least 21 points in all of them?

There isn't any good things to say about them the past 10 years that would come close to offset those two.
