For you hardcore backcountry backpackers, is there a commercially available all-in-one foot care kit that you carry with you? Looking to purchase a kit for my son. I'm sure I could piece one together at the drug store, but looking for one with an organized carrying kit.

Thanks.

The best kit is boots that fit and have been tested/worn/broken in. Not tried on in store and worn out on a 1 mile hike. All day hike varying terrain, side, up and downhill.

I’ve yet to meet someone that hikes a lot and continually gets sores/blisters. Always the guys that don’t put the time in with their boots ahead of time.

Not aware of any kit but the Band-Aid brand blister patches did wonders for me when I decided to hike 129 miles on the AT in basically new trail shoes 🤦. I don’t know if I could have finished without them and once on they stayed on I think I only used one or two the entire trip for days 2-6. I still keep some in my first aid just because. Lots of folks will recommend moleskin I’m sure.

I second rj. It is significantly better than moleskin for blisters because it stays on. It was a game changer for my 14-year-old daughter for mountain goat scouting and hunting this year.

Also, you aren't just breaking in your boots. You're breaking in your feet. Screenshot_20251117-160433.png

Thanks for the replies.

I understand the goal is generally to break in boots and avoid issues; however, my son will be attending US Army SFAS soon where there will be three weeks of heavy rucking, frequently in wet conditions. Just looking to gift him a foot care kit to treat the issues that will inevitably occur.

For SFAS, He'll need to wear AR670-1 "Compliant" boots. NOT issued (Shitty, cheap) boots.

Have him pick up a pair of these Danner's at "Clothing Sales" and some of that Leukotape that RJ was talking about. He'll be squared away.
Thanks! I know he updated from his original issues boots as soon as he was able, but I will check with him to see what his current boot status is.
