First hand Covid symptoms

See and that’s pretty interesting.

I could be entirely wrong.

I hate to say it, but it wojld almost be welcoming to learn my issues were covid related instead of brain tumor, thyroid issues, colon cancer, or food intolerance related, to be frank. Maybe?
Totally. But maybe it's the same thing. I mean the covid virus isn't what you're dealing with in long-covid. It's all this ancillary damage to things we didn't know about. Have I thought that I have had covid without knowing it and it somehow damaged the part of my brain that processes smells? yes.

yeah, which does seem hugely plausible.

well and that's i'm talking about, covid virus is gone and something is left damaged.

which is also my point, though it operates under a big assumption, that these "effects" are harmless in some instances.

i mean, cluster headaches are debilitating, but harmless as far as we know, and why they happen still isn't understood.

i guess my point is, if me having a covid infection that was symtompless gave me headaches for the rest of my life that are actually harmless to my health, i'd take that over a defunct thyroid, brain tumor, or an intestinal lining that's attacking itself.

that's a big assumption though. but ti's the one i've been operating under for now.

As far as I know I've never had it either. But as of about two months ago I smell cigarettes all the time, like right now as I type this. Despite that I have never smoked, no around me smokes, no one else can ever smell it. But it's damn near all I smell anymore. WTF life...
Have same smell issue and there are no cigarettes anywhere around. googled it and all sorts of possibilities for why.

Mine has been slowly getting better, I noticed last week. Only a few times a day now.
So weird you guys mention this. I have the same thing sitting in my office. I never get it at home, always when I'm at work in my office. I cannot pin point what exactly it is. Smells like burnt something, not cigarette smoke, not burnt toast, just cannot tell. The overbearing smell of my wife's lotion and my deodorant is still very strong as well.

I’ve never had “Covid” but every now again I smell cigarettes. I can be sitting around the house and the smell just hits me.
Same for me, never had covid but every now and then I smell cig's. No clue why???

My oldest brother and his wife got covid pre-vaccine during the first wave 2 years ago. His sense of taste is still not back to normal.

My wife has been dealing with this since last July. It started two weeks after she received the vaccine. She also suffers from major hand and foot pain. The cigarette smell for her is at its worst when she is in the most pain. She will have some good weeks and then out of nowhere the smell comes back and she knows the pain is going to follow. It sucks to watch her suffer through this. She has been to several doctors and specialists. The only thing that seems to help her is a special vitamin cocktail and the occasional "gummy" candy.

Wife and I had Covid in Jan/Feb 2021. Both lost smell and taste. Both our taste came back slowly, on and off after a few weeks, but everything tastes like burnt brake fluid to me and she got that sometimes too. Lately a few things occasionally taste right for me, but 60% of the time, most things taste like burnt brake fluid.
Her sense of smell is still not 100% and mine was totally gone for 11 or 12 months and is still only about 20% after 14 months. When I do smell, it is a burnt toast or grease smell - everything; gas, skunk, oranges, coffee, rain... everything = burnt toast/grease. I liked it better when I couldn't smell at all.
You would think I would've lost a few pounds not enjoying eating, but I powered through and still managed to gain 8 or 10 pounds over the winter!! Life is good.

I’ve talked about my struggles with the vaccine on here before, but I’m also still dealing with the hand pain. I haven’t had any issues with my feet, but there are mornings I wake up and my hands ache so bad I can’t make a fist. I’ve had every test in the book and all kinds of blood work done. Nothing shows up there. I thought maybe it was a diet issue so I spent almost a month eating “perfect” and nothing changed. The last time I was at the doctor he felt like we had ruled everything else out and it was probably linked to my reaction to the vaccine. What’s interesting is there is never any swelling associated with it. They are always the same size, but some days i can’t use them for awhile in the morning.

Yah mine is similar it's like an aerosol tatse/smell that comes and goes. Best way I can describe it anyway.

I showed this thread to my wife last night. She almost got teary eyed. Her reaction was "See I am not crazy!" When she started down this road almost a year ago, she felt like none of the doctors believed her. She even went to a nerve "specialist". He wanted us to pay $12k for some sort of glove and boot treatment for her. I would have gladly paid for it, but she wouldn't do it. She finally got a vitamin cocktail recipe from a friend of hers that is a PA. She feels this is working for her, but not a cure.

While I was turkey hunting in Kentucky, my wife tested positive with a home-test-kit, then at the clinic. Her symptoms are just a runny nose and a bit tired. She still takes the dog for a 3 mile hike every day. We are vaxed and boosted.
