Just thought I'd share my first elk hunt with you guys. Hunted a general unit in Wyoming that we've previously hunted for pronghorn and deer.
Long story short, we hunted very, very hard, all day in fact and were actually in elk every day of our hunt. I was within bow range of a mature herd bull 3 days in a row, he just wouldn't come out of the thick stuff he was in. Me and my hunting buddies were in awe of how smart he was! It was like he'd played this game before, he knew where he was safe and where he wasn't. Hearing a mature growling bugle multiple times from 35 yards away is truly an experience!!
While trying to call the big bull in, this guy came in silently on a string to our calls at 25 yards. He's certainly not the one we were after, but no way was I gonna pass on this opportunity! My first ever elk tag, and the first elk hunt I've been a part of. Truly blessed to share a successful hunt with good friends. Hope you guys enjoy the pics and story
