First Bow Buck

My 2012 tag is punched, it is gonna be kinda awkward not having a tag during the rut this year but wont complain one bit! This was the first evening I had the chance to sit in the stand this fall as I have been in pursuit of elk, but after sitting in the stand for three hours, I had two smaller bucks walk by along with this guy at 17 yards. Found him piled up 60 yards later, all I can say is that these bow hunting rushes you get are the best!

I was so excited I didn't even think about it until I got home and looked at the pictures, and that was the first thing that I noticed as well.

Nice buck, congrats! I personally don't mind the blood but I do cut the tongue off prior to taking any pics and try to clean them up a lil bit. No biggie though. Again, good job!

It doesn't bother me at all either - like using the word harvest vs. killed - it is what it is. The boldness of it probably limits the number of people that will get to see it, which is too bad because it's a nice buck.

It's so bright in the shot it looks like he was playing paintball. And lost.

edit: Matter of fact, golfer, if you want me to take a shot at 'cleaning that buck up' for you, shoot me a pm with the full sized pic (we can do that on here, right?) and I'll give it a whirl in Photoshop. I'm pretty good. But it will have to wait a couple weeks until after my elk hunt.

Great looking buck! Isn't it amazing what that guy walking into your shooting lane does to your heart rate? That feeling will stick with you a long time, enjoy it - along with a hot grill and some bacon wrapped backstrap.
