It's been hot in CA deer country where I hunt, but that really hasn't stopped me. I've been out a total of four separate days and finally sealed the deal yesterday morning. I've quickly come to the realization that I need a spotter to hunt these guys.

A couple of times I have initially passed off deer as does, but through a change of light or backrgound seen that they are actually bucks. Then the next test is determining they have forks. We stared (three people with 8x and 10x binos) at this guy for nearly ten minutes at about 260yds and finally found the forks as they line up really well. I've seen over 35 "does" this season, I wonder how many of them were small forkies. Good thing my wife was with me yesterday and said I should get one (a spotter).
