Federal Land Sales for Affordable Housing?

They likely would not, that’s my point. Add in property tax expense and this starts to look financially onerous for many potential buyers.
Quick grab from the internet. You can dig in further on the topic and report back:

“Foreign entities—corporations, governments, and investment groups—own about 40 million acres of U.S. agricultural land as of the latest USDA data, up over 60% from a decade ago.”

Editing to say that I’d love to be proven wrong, but I’d appreciate some reputable citations and not just speculation.

Timing was impeccable when I got a response email from Senator Sheehy's office professing his undying loyalty to public lands, hunting, access, etc...then a day later the House decides to sell off public lands.

Perfect opportunity to send a reply message calling him out if he stands by his words or not by opposing selling public lands in the Senate?

Who knows if it will help, but I tried to frame it as a risk to the Republican party to go against so many right voting hunters and fisherman.

One must try...

More tax write offs for the pay no taxes crowd.

Do you really think this is the most likely outcome?

Who would buy it all even if was all put up for sale (which it won’t be)?
Yep. Not tomorrow, or next week, and your hunting trip for this fall will be fine. But this is the path. Check back in 10yrs then in 20yrs. Americans will lose a unique asset because they 1) are too cheap to pay for the upkeep 2) are too lazy to protest and/or 3) want to find a way to get something out of it for themselves.

The transfer to states is inevitable. No sale, just a gift. Then it will be sold to those that can rape and pillage the land to its greatest monetary value.

I dug. I’m back.

This is all very dependent on political timing. I don’t think this is going to happen within the next three years to any sort of catastrophic scale. I sense change will soon follow.

I get your concern- I see a different ending, but you make a valid point.

If transferred to the states, why do you assume they would all make the decision to liquidate everything?

Thousands of luxury ranches in primo locations with built-in infrastructure?

I do not believe that currently exists on public land. If not, it’s an apples-to-oranges comparison and not an accurate real world discussion point.
You asked why the Feds would charge less per acre. They will simply because of the large amount of land to be sold.

It’s apples to apples.

Have they dropped the pretense of 'for affordable housing?' Just phoned my Rep Petterson, who is strong in opposing the MAGA threats to public lands and their agencies. Hopefully Boebert's replacement Hurd-the-turd will also oppose it. CO Western slope HTers, I encourage you to light him up by phone immediately! (202) 225-4676, his DC office.

So I understand your perspective: you are saying that a $60 million luxury ranch is representative in value to the average acrage of public land?

Tough position to defend, my man. Good luck.
You keep adding descriptors to your $60 million dollar ranch but in general my answer remains the same. No. The Feds won’t get the same price per acre due to the large amount of land it will sell.

Tell me how the Feds will get the same value per acre?
