Start of the year: All these out of state hunters suck
Mid year: these out of county hunters suck
End of year: These out of town hunters suck
If that’s a general bull then I’m impressedView attachment 389716
Last years 8.5 year old R3 opening day bull. Never saw another hunter that weekend away from the pickup.
It is you just got to get out there in R3, the land of big bulls and no huntersIf that’s a general bull then I’m impressed![]()
Think I’ll just make the 15 hour drive back home to Western Colorado for a OTC bull when I want some peace and solitude from R3It is you just got to get out there in R3, the land of big bulls and no hunters
Yeah I've killed several elk in R3 in recent years, and killed a deer for about a dozen years in a row now. It doesn't seem that crowded to me, at least not where I hunt.I think its been 8 years since I last killed a big game animal NOT in R3.
The quality has tanked. But its doable.
I stopped getting worked up over things a little, which helps.![]()
Yesterday afternoon I saw way more antelope in R3 than 2 previous days in R7. Too bad the permits are so hard to come by. We signed into two type-1 BMAs saw zero people and both places had gobs of antelope. Did not do any analysis other number of slips signed at the sign in boxes. Not much on the public land as the animals are grouping up into large herds and more focused on the ag areas. Norris road had some activity though - I think @shrapnel was signing autographs.

That’s actually an AI image. I asked Grok to make an image of a badass with a R3 bull and that’s what I got. I don’t know who that guy is but he sure looks like a badass to me too.I have a hard time believing you didn’t have some kind of access somewhere.
Opening day of elk season last year I didn’t see another hunter or cut another set of boot tracks on national forest. I also didn’t see an elk, but I’ve killed bulls there before.I have a hard time believing you didn’t have some kind of access somewhere.
You hunted hard and smart the 5 miles guys just hunted hard. Doesn’t do any good to hike to the next roadIn all seriousness, I’m sure I got lucky. That bull was 3 miles in. I talked to others that went 5 miles plus and they were swarmed. That’s what makes hunting so fun to me. You never know when you could get lucky as chit
Don’t let your buddy kid you that’s a Utah General bull for sureMy buddy sent me this one today. OTC Colorado. Thinking about sacrificing a couple days of glorious R3 hunting to give him a go. View attachment 389741
Lived in R7 my entire hunting life until moving to R3 4 years ago I’m convinced the whole state is in despair! Hunting is definitely getting tougher every year I just hope something gives soon.Lets the pain, bellyaching, and annoying repetitive clubs on the dead horse’s skull start here. You sniveling R7 locals are not the only victims.![]()
Don't you worry pard, something IS gonna give..That something being my rifle, giving a 200gr accubond to the first rag that shows himself. Just a few more weeks before I head that way to join the R3 party. Can't wait!Lived in R7 my entire hunting life until moving to R3 4 years ago I’m convinced the whole state is in despair! Trying to find a decent bull is enough of a challenge. I just couldn't handle the pressure of having a coveted MT forkie tag!Do you have a combo license so you can shoot a forkie mule deer to go along with that raghorn bull?
