I got the middle finger last year hunting rosebud county with 14 plates.

Sorry about that, in the future I will refrain from using the single finger welcome for anyone east of Billings.

Think I’ll just make the 15 hour drive back home to Western Colorado for a OTC bull when I want some peace and solitude from R3

I think its been 8 years since I last killed a big game animal NOT in R3.
The quality has tanked. But its doable.
I stopped getting worked up over things a little, which helps.

Yeah I've killed several elk in R3 in recent years, and killed a deer for about a dozen years in a row now. It doesn't seem that crowded to me, at least not where I hunt.

Yesterday afternoon I saw way more antelope in R3 than 2 previous days in R7. Too bad the permits are so hard to come by. We signed into two type-1 BMAs saw zero people and both places had gobs of antelope. Did not do any analysis other number of slips signed at the sign in boxes. Not much on the public land as the animals are grouping up into large herds and more focused on the ag areas. Norris road had some activity though - I think @shrapnel was signing autographs.

I was actually on the other side of the road heading toward Turners! I set up a diversion, posting signs that Greenhorn would be by with some green beer and marshmallows.

It worked and those idiots stayed until dark waiting for Greenhorn!

Opening day of elk season last year I didn’t see another hunter or cut another set of boot tracks on national forest. I also didn’t see an elk, but I’ve killed bulls there before.

In all seriousness, I’m sure I got lucky. That bull was 3 miles in. I talked to others that went 5 miles plus and they were swarmed. That’s what makes hunting so fun to me. You never know when you could get lucky as chit

You hunted hard and smart the 5 miles guys just hunted hard. Doesn’t do any good to hike to the next road

Lived in R7 my entire hunting life until moving to R3 4 years ago I’m convinced the whole state is in despair! Hunting is definitely getting tougher every year I just hope something gives soon.

Trying to find a decent bull is enough of a challenge. I just couldn't handle the pressure of having a coveted MT forkie tag!
