Exercise Equipment

I hope it works out for you. Last year at 59 I packed out my elk but this year I'm having a hard time. My joints are wearing out, especially the hips. My endurance and strength are ok but joint pain really limits how far I can hike in. Golden years my ass. Good luck.

As a Michigander I know how hard it is to train for the mountains. I feel you are right track with the addition of your total gym. Switching it up is good. Lighter weight and more reps as you age or you will wear your joints out. Advise I got from the Packer Doctor. Keep up the good work!

How about a rack and bar. Starting strength added a lot of power to my outdoor efforts, and it can all be done at home. No need to put up big numbers, just do things correctly and it will pay off.

A TRX system is cheap, versatile, and will do all you need for building strength.

Update,
now that I have had the Total Gym for a month and use it 2 to 3 times a week, along with my Elliptical I want to tell people what I think of it.

I have been doing the 18 exercises 15 reps of each recommended on the DVD.
It will give anyone a good total body workout.
Specially us older guys that can't do what we did when we were younger.
It is well worth the $300.00 I spent on it.
I will definitely be in better shape this fall.
