I was invited to an antelope hunt camp on a ranch from a guy I met here in town. Last minute, calls me on Wednesday hunt starts Saturday, 3 day tag, I can't make it til Sunday. He gives me directions to his place that has no address, something like pass town xzy go til you turn north then back west drop down in the valley come back out of the valley turn south there there's a tank on both sides of the road... I call him to tell him i made it to the land and get further directions to camp, if you get lost call and we'll find you. About 3 mins later a buck runs in front of my truck and stops about 90 yard from the 2 track and goes back to grazing. I call, hey I'm not lost but I see a nice buck.. well, shoot em.

On my way to camp, 90 yards from the truck shot through the heart. He was on ice in short order, I still made breakfast and we spend the rest of the day exploring.

Thank you all, it's been a rough couple of hunting seasons for me prior to this, and I didn't even draw any big game tags this year so i just had my sights on quail season. The Hunting Gods truly threw me a bone on this one. I got home last night and got about hallway done with the final processing and into the freezer. I have the rear and front legs today and the skull still. Called out of work again, sent my boss pictures, her husband is a big hunter so she totally understands.
