This guy (Bruce the Elk) was a bit harder of a hunt than last year's bull.
Reasons:

• He was hard to find after the shot (shit shooting on my part)
• Weather served up a number of torrential downpours
• Moving between 10k-12k is more difficult when you're 13 weeks pregnant

Just wanted to pop in and say hi hunttalk peeps! I know I've been scarce, it's been a bit of a year (re: above). Have some off days next week so throwing myself into grouse hunting. Maybe I'll lurk less and post more during this glorious fall season. Happy hunting to y'all!!

Son’s first elk…..I was able to call him in from quite a distance away (about 1000 yards). He was looking for love in all the wrong places, I guess.

First archery bull and first packout with my mare and her 3yo mule. A funky, cool looking little 6x3.
Hunted solo but big thanks to my buddy for his help packing up the stock and getting it out.

After being so close so many times, and being into elk on most days for the past few years, it felt really darn good to get it done.
