Hello fellow elk hunters. I'm looking for any info I can get on rifle hunting unit 622 in Montana. Good areas to start looking. Benefits of horses, boat or utv. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

welcome to the forums.

I'd do a forum search for that unit.

I heard if you stop your truck every couple hundred yards and cow call you can get a response, that’s why they bugle so much out there..

Had to join in..

Brutal !!

Hopefully someone sends you in the right diresction, if it was 621 I could help you out, sorry good luck on your hunt

A great place to start would be the slippery ann area, tons of bugling bulls and they open three rifle season up September 15th there. Shouldn't have any problem finding thebull you want.

The MTFWP swat team will be by your house shortly if they haven't already.

Too bad the Slippery Ann Area is located in HD 621.

I'll help you out...
Hunted it twice in the past few years. One time we went in by boat and were in elk every day...not a lot, but opportunities. The other time we went in via the roads, there were zero elk (that we could find) down by the water, and they were all herded up off the CMR on private...and they knew exactly where the property lines were. Basically, it depends on the weather (dry/wet/etc) as to where they'll be.
