Well, I drew a OIL oryx tag for White Sands Missile Range.

My wife and I are both active duty Air Force. Two years ago, we PCS'd to South Korea where we've been living since. I haven't hunted or fished since we left. We have orders to head to Tampa this summer. Korea has been great for us and the kids, but I've missed hunting terribly, and I'm very ready to get back to the states and get back after it. I was and still am planning to muzzleloader hunt for elk and pronghorn in Colorado, but I threw in for a slew of moonshot tags as well never expecting I'd actually draw one. Moose, goat, and sheep in Montana, sheep in Colorado, oryx in New Mexico...those tags that you know exist but never actually expect to draw.

Seems I hit the lottery (or the lottery hit me). I pulled a tag for Rhodes Canyon area of WSMR next February. It's still sinking in. If anyone has hunted WSMR before, post your pictures and tell your story!

Good luck, well done. Always appreciated the “high cover”. White sands is cool country will be looking forward to your report from the field.

I drew it about 30 years ago, they do things a bit different now but you will have a great time. I helped a friend out about 10 years ago and he got a nice bull on the first day. It's more like antelope hunting than anything else. The short time allowed (2 or 3 days) is the only downside of the hunt, but it's normally not as issue.

Never been, but make sure you learn the photography rules. I think it is quite restrictive.

Congratulations on the tag. Quite a nice way to get back into hunting mode…..OIL tag in your pocket.

Congrats on the tag. Super jealous I am now hoping someday I can draw a BHO tag. Best meat ever having Oryx tacos today actually.
