Ken Ivory and other public land-grabbers insist that once states control public lands, they will keep them. Don't buy it. The Wilderness Society just analyzed thousands of land sales involving property that was deeded to the state of Idaho at statehood. Bottom line: the state has already sold off 1.7 million acres, nearly the size of the Sawtooth National Forests. It went to everything from gravel pits to members-only fishing clubs.
