Dept of Interior handed over to DOGE

You should stop using anything MSFT. I used to think the government was inefficient, but MSFT has dominated my job for the last 4 years, and it has completely changed my outlook on what acceptable baseline efficiency is. The metaphor one of their own consultants used was "imagine a wagon slowly rolling across the prairie, it can only go so fast, that is the speed at which a data center is constructed. Now imagine a large herd of riders on horseback, sprinting around it in circles, shooting at each other. Those are the contractors and consultants. Occasionally, they miss each other and hit the wagon, slowing it down for repairs." I tend to think a hurricane is more apt, all of the energy in a hurricane is in the rotational energy, not in the more linear travel path of the eye, same roles as above. Here's an example, one of those riders installed a water service in the way of a cooling water main, because they were trying to go so fast they didn't have time to plan. We had two meetings, with upwards of 20 people, and a cumulative billing rate well in excess of 5k/hr to determine that they refused to move the temp water service and I needed to pay my contractor to work around it. The temp water service would have cost them 3k to move. I paid my contractor 8k for structural shoring to go under it. So someone went too fast and caused a problem, then they spent an obscene amount of time to land the most complicated and expensive solution. That is just one small example from last week.

So you'd better ditch Office and Windows entirely, because if you continue to those those products you are knowingly funding a metric shitton of waste.
I bought a surface that’s been tits up from the start.

The amount of trouble shooting BS they tried to put me through after our IT guy looked at it and said “it’s toast, send it back” was unbelievable.

I probably used a surface’s value worth of time just trying to get it exchanged. Would have been 3 surfaces worth of time to go through their rigmarole

Would be nice to see a list. They seem to have the specific numbers so why make the announcement if they aren’t going to publish the list? Also, not holding my breath on them showing the same commitment to hunting, fishing, and conservation in the budget.

Musk initially claimed he could cut “at least” 2 trillion from the federal budget. He then walked it back with a new promise of maybe 1 trillion. The total annual cost of federal discretionary spending is $1.8 trillion.

So how well is Musk doing?

At best he’s cut $160Bn, but at worst he might not have reduced the budget at all.

Barring a few exceptions, it is a publicity stunt. But keep drinking the Kool-aid…

There was never any intent to save money, none. This whole thing is retribution, nothing more, nothing less. When a President doesn't know if he should uphold the Constitution, the most basic of sworn duties, is it about saving money?

When you appoint an Interior Secretary and they pass the duties to a doge flunky, is it about doing what's best for the American Public?

I've never seen this level of incompetence in my life, appointed people with ZERO experience leading agencies that have huge impacts on the American Public. I'm fine with a qualified person taking an agency in a different direction, changing the mission...but JFC, at least appoint someone that's qualified to do it.

Its like asking a plumber, or librarian, or truck driver to lead NASA.

I'm not one to hire a mechanic to do my plumbing, or hire a cashier to repair my car.

Well , he has to save enough to pay for his parade , right ?

Have their been any arrests yet due to fraud?
Nope, just like there hasn't been any convictions on any of the umpteen Trump charges. The whole thing is bullshit on both sides. Which in turn makes threads and politics in general all bullshit. The whole thing is so stupid. Sure keeps everyone busy fighting over the scraps though.

Point well taken, but to be fair… Trump did used campaign funds to pay off a pornstar, of which he was found guilty.

Evangelicals sure love to get down on their knees and praise the man tho.

Also, Pam Bondi is a power slut and it’s kind of hot.

Don't get me wrong, every acre added for hunting/fishing is a good thing no matter the administration. I hope some of these areas are in places that have limited public access.

But, perspective is important.

Wyoming accessyes program opened up about 2.6 million acres of hunting in FY 2024. Just shy of 4k lake acres of fishing access and 94 stream miles of fishing. Corner crossing opened up access to 3 million acres in 8 states.

The costs of the damage he has inflicted is all but in calculable.
