well lets see, Miller Hasent been in ID lately so we know it isnt another kid, Is Fatty gonna do the Tri this year again?

NoHarley..... Out of everyone I figured you'd guess the "National Spelling bee championship". A guy can't even set himself up anymore :D

Nah Moosie, I have no problem cyphering your posts.....once I've figured which core algorithim you've implemented for encryption.:D

Does this have anything to do with a cool mountain stream and a rather small cooking pot?

Did you bend over and pay your $250, Moosie? Good luck. I'll be there too. I'm predicting temps of 95F that afternoon. Al Gore told me it would be so. :D

Come train masters with us at the West Valley Y. I'm in the "single lane prison" every MWF 12-1pm. You won't be the slowest person there or the only clydesdale. Bring your water wings...

Whats the Membership at the Y ? I have a Membership at the Nampa Rec center. I'm not sure I want to cough up another gym membership.

I did fork out the $250.... Problem is there is a $10 pass and some other crap so it's like $280 or so. What's $30 after $250 though... right :)

I haven't been but once to the gym this year. I need to switch that. I know it's one thing to fake a Sprint TRI, but I'm guessing "some" training should go into a 1.2 Mile swim, 56 Mile Bike and 13.1 miles of running........

Yes, you do have to do "some" but keep in mind its only a half.

I would spend my time on the roads (or in the pool) rather than the gym. Or the computer for that matter.... : )

Put your training emphasis on the bike. 60+ percent of your training time. You are less likely to get injured and can put more time in at your aerobic heartrate. Also consider getting fitted prior to starting the longer stuff.

Run at least 4 times a week, but mostly at an easy pace. Gradually build to a "long run" of 9-11 miles once every other week in the last 3 months.

The swim is sort of a warmup. In my opinion, it merits the least attention of all three sports, unless you are planning on being very competitive or are a VERY weak swimmer. If the latter, you need to get comfortable in the water and not expend too much energy you could save for the bike. If the former, practice sighting and drafting at masters sessions, along with sprints to bridge up packs. This mimics race conditions.

Train whenever possible in the heat so your body can learn to deal with it and still maintain a high cardiac output.

Have fun,

G

From what I've seen, you might also consider getting BillyGoat as your coach......
