I once left a place I was bowhunting in mid-morning, late October. Of course I didn't make it 200 yards down the County road, before I spotted the buck I was after cruising along the river bottom, just south of the property I was hunting. I naturally pulled over and grabbed my binoculars. As I was trying to get a glimpse, an old truck pulled up directly behind me, even though I was well off to the side so someone could pass. I stuck my arm out to wave him around just in case he thought I was broke down or stuck halfway in the ditch. He pulls up beside me and asks "why are you hunting my land?" Utterly confused, I politely responded I thought I had seen a deer while I was driving so I pulled over to take a look. Guy immediately says "bullsh!t, i saw you walking my field for pheasants!" Still extremely confused, but starting to get angry, I let him know I was bowhunting and didn't even have a shotgun in my vehicle (there was a handgun in my center console). He yells again "get the hell out of here or I'll call the Sheriff". At this point I've lost all consideration of being polite and there were some words like ignorant, old, blind, and public road. The deer was gone by this time, so I said go ahead and call the Sheriff, I'll wait. Sheriff never showed up, but the guy reported my plate to the county office. I get a call from a deputy later that day and I explain exactly what happened. He laughed and said the guy who called me in doesn't even live in the area and just has permission to hunt there. The guy thought I had stolen his honey hole, acted like he owned the place, and completely lost his mind someone else might have been driving down the county road next to the property in late October.
