Every now and then you run into a douche nozzle while recreating on public land. This morning ran into a real gem.

After blasting some bbs our direction, he walks up, asks us if we’re going to shoot there, then tells us to go elsewhere because he’s bird hunting. . He has no clue how close he was to returning to 4 flat tires. The presence of my son is what kept that from happening.

Couple years ago I was in the wilderness during rifle elk season. I was out on a point looking at a super funky tree when I heard a whistle. A couple guys walked up to me. One guy was decked out in head to toe multicam with boonie, carrying his rifle at the low ready with the stick on eye black patches. I talked to them for a bit said I saw a few cows earlier and the day. One of them asked me if I “tagged”. I asked what he meant and he said tagged, you tagged out. I said no I was looking for a bull. Then we all kind of awkwardly walked away. It was bizarre, I don’t know if I’d call them Dbags but they were a couple chodes for sure.

Last year one morning I drove into a trail head about 3 hours before light and there is a camp there. I park a little ways off and grab my stuff and I see these guys hustling to get their gear, like almost running.
Much to my surprise two of them beat me to the trail. There were 2 ways to go but I figured they were headed the same place I was because they were so early. The fork in the trail was in a half mile and a steady climb and since it was early season with no snow I wanted to see where they went so I could go the other way and avoid following them around all day.
I about died of heat stroke trying to keep their headlamps in sight. Anyway I thought it was a pretty shitty thing to do walking my ass into the dirt like that.

I generally like to be the first guy at the trailhead. The area has been hunted by myself and a couple others for a long time. If someone shows up and gathers their gear to get ahead, I let them. Give them a little head start, then use off trail shortcuts to get ahead. It's especially fun in the snow but I always make it apparent on the trail they aren't first in line. mtmuley

Couple evenings ago I'm sitting w HT pal, waiting for elk herd in the timber in front of us to come out and feed, like they do most evenings. Another hunter walks up to our hide, says he was going to sit right where we are. He walks out of sight, upwind of the herd. 30 min later the bugling has stopped and the elk left a clear trail of where he pushed them out. We tracked them for a half mile, and saw them briefly as darkness fell. Only other hunter we had seen in there.

I invited this guy and his 12 yo daughter turkey hunting in a massive ground blind on my private land. My property is loaded with turkeys, they were everywhere. Best turkey hunting around. Mega wad of huge toms. My 12 yo daughter is with me too and to be polite, I ask the guy if it's cool to light up a joint? Just like to relax a little before the shots so I don't have the jitters. DB gets all riled up about hotboxing the blind with our kids!!
