From a mid October Blue grouse on the Continental divide. That stick with the needles on it was large enough that I don’t think I could swallow it. Pretty amazing.

Eastern Oregon, 4 hungarian partridge crop contents on the right, 4 chukar partridge crop contents on the left. All shot within a mile of each other, probably less.

Ha, I like these pics. I thought I was the only weirdo that enjoyed digging through bird crops. Apparently not.
To make it weirder, I killed some pheasants last week in S. Dakota, gutted and froze the birds, brought them home to Oklahoma and when I skinned them I took the sunflower seeds out of the crops I put them in a bowl and fed them to my ducks in my pen.

The first is what I expect (peas).
The second is what I normally see in winter ruffed grouse (aspen buds).
Both roosters had lots of fat reserves.
