There is an apple tree across the street which has been loaded with apples. It is like a magnet for all kinds of critters BUT.....I have never seen a coyote eat apples...lots of apples. She looks like an old female that has had pups this year. I watched her several times over the last few days gorging herself...like 5-6 apples at a time. Really strange to me.

my dog is on the neighbors fallen crab apples like flies on horseshit when she goes in the front yard. guess it doesn't surprise me.

Whatever fills the belly. Here they are eating the berries/nuts falling from the palm trees. Lots of 'em and apparently my dog likes 'em too regardless of whether the coyote has eaten them already or not. 😣 No more kisses from Ms. Twiggy for a while.

I watched a coyote spend a half hour picking and eating huckleberries one day.

Used to have a pear tree right outside the back door at our old farm. They'd light off right outside the window in the middle of the night and you could hear them munching on the pears.

The cantaloupe in my son's garden at the farm up and disappeared one night. Figured it was coyotes. They eat about anything.

When they start killing your pets and killing your livelihood you'll probably change your mind.
They are attacking dogs out for a walk with the owners in the Broomfield area in Colorado. The one that is eating the apples is getting more bold every day.

When they eat peaches is when they might have a problem.....wisdom from my youth.

I've got a cell cam on a couple apple trees behind the house that have been getting a lot of deer traffic. Coyotes show up there pretty frequently too.
Not sure how many apples they eat but it's probably a good place to find other small critters to eat.

Having been around coyotes most of my life, I admire them as the ultimate opportunist. They use their skills without wasting a lot of energy to get its needs and survive. Long ago when milkmen put milk on doorsteps, urban coyotes learned to grab the milk off of doorsteps. Nothing but admiration. They, along with mosquitos and whitetail deer will be around long after humans are extinct.
