Sitting here in a ranch house in south east Montana grateful to have spent the week hunting with my grandpa. Montana is a special place for him as he has been coming here every single year since 1988. I got permission from my boss to have a rare week of vacation in November but neither of us drew tags this year. I was fortunate enough to get a cow elk tag in the B tag drawing. On 10/22 I was lucky to get a deer combo that was turned in only 2.5 weeks before the trip. This was all about spending time with grandpa at one of his favorite places in the world, the critters were just a bonus

Thanks guys! We still have a day and a half here but we are now into the butchering, meat packing, and whiskey drinking portion of the trip

The deer are rutting like crazy and the little bit of snow we had last week pushed the elk down early where we were hunting. All the roads are muddy as sin right now, don't plan on using a truck to get real far off the county roads! Good luck out there!!
