Stop federal overspending now!
You worked 193 days this year to support the cost of government This week, Americans for Tax Reform released its annual Cost of Government Day report. The results show that the cost of federal spending and regulation continues to increase faster than the growth of the income produced by American workers. In 2006, the average American worker will need to labor 193 days of the year to pay for the costs imposed by federal, state, and local governments. In other words, you had to work to until July 12th to pay for the costs of government, more than half the year. The 2006 Cost of Government Day increased 1.4 days compared to last year and is up 12 days since 2000. Federal spending represents 67 percent of the increase in the total cost of government since 2000.
