Not sure if his beams are deep in the mud or not even there.

Looks cool. I would try to excavate it now. Clear snow and then use a small pick ax or rock hammer if necessary.

Little propane heater and a pot...boil snow and pour to melt around horns. Or just heat snow with little propane/butane torch.

He may be snorkeling. I'd verify that he is dead before trying to cut his head off, just saying
